“Working with Irene has indeed been just that – work! Good, nurturing, difficult, fascinating work. From the doldrums to the tumult of the high seas, she has proven to be attentive and insightful, caring and challenging, responsible and responsive. Our journey has taken me places I could not have dreamed… highly, unreservedly recommended.”
“I want to express how important Irene has been in the life of my daughter. We met Irene while my daughter was in residential treatment after having gone through an extremely difficult time in her life. At that point, I was just grateful that my daughter was alive, and one of the most difficult issues we were having was her distrust of all the mental health professionals due to some really bad experiences she had had with many of them when hospitalized. Her inability to connect with a therapist that she felt she could trust and confide in was a major impediment to her overcoming her deep depression. When she met Irene, first in the capacity of yoga and music therapy, gradually she grew to confide in her: it was the first time she felt she could trust a therapist. She learned invaluable coping skills including mediation, art, and music therapy. Moreover, as our family therapist, Irene helped us work on resolving conflict, and the foundation of trust she built with us all allowed for a much improved family dynamic.
After my daughter moved out of residential treatment and into a therapeutic day high school, Irene continued working with her within her private practice to continue growing her self-confidence and coping skills. She became proficient in painting and playing the guitar, and continued practicing yoga and meditation to help herself self-regulate. Her weekly sessions with Irene were essential to her growth and dealing with the difficulties of high school and depression. She began to thrive in school, applied and was accepted to her first choice college, and is now attending college and doing very well. Irene continues to work with her via weekly Skype therapy sessions that she finds extremely helpful to deal with the new challenges of college and living away from home. I am incredibly grateful and proud of what my daughter has overcome and accomplished, and Irene was and continues to be a key part of that success.”
